CEMEX Continues to Expand Construrama Network in Latin America

June 15, 2017

With the opening of its 300th store in Colombia, CEMEX’s Construrama network consolidates its position as the broadest building materials distribution network in Mexico and Colombia and continues its growth in other Latin American countries.

Looking to bring distributors closer to the construction business, CEMEX rolled out its Construrama initiative in 2001. Today, Construrama is the leading building materials distribution network in Mexico, with over 1,700 retail stores in more than 600 cities, and in Colombia, where it is present in approximately 190 cities and directly benefits over 1,200 families after only four years.

Construrama provides local hardware store owners with the necessary resources to compete with large chains, including offering them training and support with efficiency and customer service, sales strategies, marketing, financial management, and strategic supplier alliances, among other incentives. By joining the Construrama network, local hardware store owners benefit from CEMEX’s support and more than 110 years of expertise without losing control of their business or independent decision-making.

Construrama also certifies process standardizations and customer services. For instance, Construrama associates in Mexico can obtain the Sello de la Casa certification, which allows local hardware stores to achieve operational, service, and image excellence in all relevant areas of the business: Sales, deliveries, staff, warehouse, image, and services.

In 2016 alone, the Construrama network welcomed 130 retail stores in Mexico and over 60 stores in Colombia, in which it is expected to expand to 550 points of sale by 2020. The network is also present in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Puerto Rico.

“At CEMEX and CEMEX Latam Holdings, we are proud to help achieve the dreams of Colombians by contributing to the improvement of their earnings and their businesses’ profitability, while enabling them to achieve the fulfillment of their personal projects. More than an initiative, Construrama is a way to approach people and boost the growth of small entrepreneurs in our country,” explained Cesar Gomez, National Director of Construrama in Colombia.
