Dubai Municipality awarded the city’s best ready-mix companies.

With an aim to continue pursuing excellence and improving the quality of concrete in Dubai, the Dubai Municipality (“DM”) this year launched a new annual award to recognize and incentivize the city’s top concrete companies. In its inaugural year, CEMEX took home the silver prize.

The winners were announced during the eight annual International Concrete Technology Forum, organized in Dubai this year by Grey Matters in partnership with the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association of the United States of America (“NRMCA”) and the DM. The NRMCA also organizes other events throughout the globe, including this year’s Concrete Sustainability Conference in Washington D.C.

The ready-mix and precast concrete companies in Dubai that had undergone a DM audit and received a certification were eligible to participate. Essentially, the award recognizes the best performer in the “Certificate of Conformity – Concrete Production and Delivery Facilities.”

Initial audit certification involves compliance with the DM Standard DMS026 and other relevant rules. These can include speed of response to clients, percentage of approved trucks, and number of recorded observations by the Dubai Central Laboratory audit team.

During the awards ceremony, the Dubai Central Laboratory indicated an interest in expanding the award, creating more categories that will allow more opportunities for recognition.
