The CIOP-PIB has improved the safety rating of our operations in Poland every year for the last three years.

Whether we’re contributing to the next great skyscraper or creating a culture of safety at work, at CEMEX we’re never content with “good enough.” Rather, we’re constantly looking to improve however we can for our clients, our employees, and our stakeholders. In Poland, this quest for improvement is evident in our involvement with the Central Institute for Labor Protection – National Research Institute (CIOP-PIB), which has improved our safety rating every year for the last three years.

CIOP-PIB, a top research institute in Poland, focuses on improving working conditions through research in fields including labor protection and occupational safety. We have collaborated with the institute on improving Health & Safety standards since 2012. The institute also evaluates its member organizations every year on their performance in occupational health and safety, announcing their “grades” in three categories at the Conference of Safe Work Leaders.

This year, our operations in Poland received the institute´s highest recognition for achieving continuous improvement in working conditions, safety and for promoting healthy habits within employees. Previously our team received a Green card in 2014, our first year of eligibility after joining the CIOP-PIB Forum of Safety Leaders in 2013. Last year our team’s performance merited a silver card, followed by a Gold Card, the top grade, this year.

Qualifying for a Gold Card requires maintaining rates of occupational disease and accidents below the Polish national average. Additionally, recipients must have implemented an Occupational Health & Safety Management System and consistent preventive activity leading to the improvement of H&S within the company.
